Senior Designer, The Royal Society of Medicine | February 2017 - Present
Lead designer within the Communications Department of a major UK medical non-profit supporting healthcare professionals through events and membership services. The Royal Society of Medicine delivers over 150 in-person and online events annually, and is a leading provider of postgraduate medical education.
Key Projects: RSM Visual Identity Refresh, Tackling Health Inequalities, Better healthcare for better lives - 5 year Strategy and Annual Reports
Lead and manage the in-house design team, overseeing project delivery and ensuring a high standard of creative output across all media.
Design and produce all RSM marketing materials for print and digital – from initial brief through to final production – with a focus on member acquisition and retention.
Responsible for key publications, including the RSM’s Annual Report and strategic documents such as organisational strategies and philanthropic proposals.
Design and code responsive HTML/CSS email templates for use across marketing campaigns – including newsletters, event promotions, and member communications – with a focus on continual performance optimisation.
Deliver comprehensive visual support for both online and in-person events, including flyers, posters, banners, holding slides, animated intros, and Zoom assets – working in collaboration with AV and digital teams.
Maintain and evolve the RSM’s brand guidelines, ensuring visual consistency while introducing new creative directions. A key project nearing completion is a major brand refresh project (due for launch summer 2025) which I led on. This included a full visual audit, stakeholder engagement, internal team coordination, and presentation of concepts to senior leadership and the RSM council.
Provide organisation-wide guidance on the RSM’s visual identity, supporting colleagues across all departments to ensure brand integrity in all print and digital collateral.
Manage and maintain the RSM’s image and media library; create custom illustrations and graphics; source and purchase stock imagery; serve as in-house event photographer/videographer; and coordinate professional photography of facilities.
Line manage and mentor junior designers, balancing workloads, delegating projects, and creating a collaborative and growth-oriented team culture.
